NUTRITION
"Let thy food be thy medicine and let thy medicine be thy food" ...Hippocrates
Nutrition focuses on how diseases, conditions or problems can be prevented or avoided by diet. The only way the body will get the many nutrients needed to stay healthy and function is by eating a wide variety of healthy foods. In order for our bodies to function properly and stay healthy, it is important that we follow a good nutritious diet. The antioxidants and other nutrients in fruits and vegetables help protect against certain types of cancer and other diseases. The health benefits of fruits and vegetables come from numerous vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals working together synergistically. I make nutrition a foundational part of everyone's protocol and though supplementation has become a must to help with nutritional defiencies it cannot nor should it be used to replace real nutirition that comes best through your daily diet. Our bodies must perform many tasks daily, below are just a few of the most important:
-
develop, replace and repair cells and tissues;
-
produce energy to keep warm, move and work;
-
carry out chemical processes such as the digestion of food;
-
protect against, resist and fight infection and recover from sickness.
Food is made up of nutrients. Micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals are needed only in small amounts. Macronutrients such as carbohydrates, protein and fat are needed in larger amounts. The body cannot function properly if one or more nutrients are missing. A healthy and balanced diet provides foods in the right amounts and combinations that are safe and free from disease and harmful substances. Prevention is always better than cure; call today for help getting good nutritional diet into your lifestyle. Begin to be good to your body, it will be good to you.
